It goes without saying that the commercialization of the holidays, especially Christmas, can easily lead us to forget the true meaning of this important day of the year for the Christian faith tradition.
It isn’t about a jolly old man handing out presents (though it is pretty cool to give and receive them!), it isn’t about egg nog and fabulous meals (though, they are delicious!). It is about the realization that God became human in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. It is because of this season that we Christians declare that we worship a “God with us.”
What does this mean? What implications does it have for my life? What does it matter that God is with us if the world seems to be going crazy? We’ll be exploring this during our monthly worship service today at 10am. Come join us as we sing advent/Christmas songs and read what the Gospels have to say about the birth of Jesus.
Hope to see you there! Bring a friend or three!
